The attractive red cultivar of P. venosa, the "veined" Phalaenopsis. Native to the lowland forests of Sulawesi Indonesia, it is a polychilos Phal variety (star-shaped) and is on the uncommon side. Not known to be fragrant (has also been reported to emit a light unpleasant fragrance) but will bloom sequentially (many times from the same spike).

The plant pictured is not the one you will receive and unless stated will not arrive in spike or bloom.

CARE INFO:

Potting mix: Coarse/fine bark with some sphagnum moss added to slow drying, mounted with moss. Enjoys a small amount of limestone topping. Repot in Spring once every other year as the bark begins to break down. Don't move up in pot size until fully root bound.

Light: Medium light. Bright North or East facing is preferred. Shield from direct afternoon or evening light to protect the leaves from burning.

Water: Water when media is dry. Prefers wet/dry cycle similar to most Phals. Decrease in winter, this variety likes to have a rest period.

Temp: Intermediate-warm (55F min night, 85F max day).

Humidity: 50-80%. Too low and leaves will show stress.

Fertilizing: 1/4-1/2 strength urea-free fertilizer, every 3rd-4th watering as new roots and leaves emerge. Flush the pot with water once monthly to remove mineral build up. Decrease to once monthly or less. Light feeders.
