Angraecum sesquipedale, also known as Darwin's orchid, became famous for its 9" long nectary spurs. Native to Madagascar (like many Angraecums). This is a more compact, narrow version of the species.

Near blooming size plant. Unless stated, orchids will not arrive in spike or bloom. Photo is of Angcm. sesquipedale and is only representative of the blooms you can expect from this plant.

ANGRAECUM CARE INFO:

Potting mix: Fine bark or coarse mix. Repot every 1-2 years as the media breaks down. Can be mounted on cork with sphagnum or tree fern but will need daily watering in hot months.

Light: Medium-low light. Window direction doesn't matter but will need ample shade in South and West facing windows. Protect leaves from direct sun exposure.

Water: Water frequently in hot months when media has reached dry. From Fall-early Spring watering should be scaled back to accommodate the dry rest period. High humidity during the hot months will help prevent the media from drying out too quickly. Water at the base of the plant to prevent crown rot.

Temp: Intermediate-warm (55F min night, 90F max day).

Humidity: 60-90%, likes high humidity in hot months with good air circulation.

Fertilizing: Light feeding year round. 1/4 strength urea-free fertilizer, every other watering as new roots and leaves emerge. Run clean room temperature tap water through the pot once monthly to prevent salt buildup. Decrease to every 3rd watering or less if leaf burning is observed.
