Odontonia orchids, an intergeneric cross between Odontoglossums and Miltonias, resemble the classic pansy shape and structure of Miltonia orchids but are slightly more compact. They grow well in intermediate temperatures and enjoy semi-frequent watering . Although these require more of an intermediate skill level, they are worth the extra care.
Light: Medium to bright indirect preferred. Be careful of temperature spikes if placed in a bright location.
Water: Water deeply when top of media is nearly dry (once to twice a week) but do not allow to sit in water.
Potting media: Fine orchid bark mix. Leave underpotted, and repot appx every 1-2 years.
Temp: 60-75F Day, 55-60F Night, 80F max for flowering.
Humidity: 40-80% preferred.
Fertilizing: 20-20-20 fertilizer diluted to 1/2 recommended strength every other watering. Decrease in winter. Flush pot occassionally to prevent salt buildup.
