About: Miltonia orchids or "pansy orchids" have striking Oncidium-like blooms quadruple the size. Easier and more hardy than their close relative, Miltonias, Miltoniopsis orchids are often florally fragrant and grow well in intermediate temperatures. They enjoy frequent watering (good drainage is key) so fine bark or long fiber sphagnum potting media is recommended. Although these require more attention and consistency than other orchids, they are worth the extra love and attention.
Potting mix: Long fiber sphagnum or fine orchid bark mix, repot every 1-2 years
Light: Medium-bright indirect light
Water: Water frequently in hot months when media is nearly dry, decrease in cold months
Temp: Intermediate (55F min night, 80F max day), dislikes temp fluctuations
Humidity: 60-70%, tolerant of lower humidity
Fertilizing: 1/2 strength urea-free balanced fertilizer, every other watering. Decrease to monthly in winter
